Spicy Turmeric Chai

If you like spicy … you will love this drink! I doubled up on the turmeric since I am dealing with inflammation in my frozen shoulder and I am looking for relief! Not sure if this helped since I had my first physical therapy yesterday and well,,,, I expected to be sore.

This is the first Chai I have ever made and I did turn away far too long from the stove and the brew bubbled over and made a terrible mess. Lesson learned —> keep an eye on the pot! I took the recipe from the Sipology by Steeped Tea catalog but made less and substituted different teas.

Spicy Turmeric Chai

1 1/2 tsp Golden Vanilla Latte

1 1/2 tsp Turmeric ‘N Spice Black Tea

1 1/2 cups water

1/2 cup milk or milk substitute (I used soymilk)

1/2 cup soymilk for froth – added to the top

The first step is to add the 1 1/2 cups of water and the Golden Vanilla Latte to your saucepan on the stove. Turn up the heat and bring to a boil; then simmer for 5 minutes.

Add the Turmeric ‘N Spice black tea and continue to simmer 2 more minutes. Add the 1/2 cup milk, bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes.

Remember to keep an eye on the pot so it doesn’t boil over!

Golden Vanilla Latte & water

Turmeric ‘N Spice black tea added

Finished masterpiece – Spicy & Delicious

Strain the tea so as to remove all the loose leaf tea once done simmering. Add the frothed milk (Milk Frother can be found here)

Enjoy your Spicy Drink!!
