Frozen Shoulder Blues

This week I was diagnosed with Frozen Shoulder, something I never knew existed, until Now!! It seems there are quite a few others with this dilemma and it is rather painful. I joined a Facebook group called Frozen Shoulder Friends and have only visited twice since this is all so new to me. I did receive a steroid shot to the shoulder and physical therapy starts Monday.

This is the explanation I gathered from my google search –

Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is a condition characterized by stiffness and pain in your shoulder joint. Signs and symptoms typically begin gradually, worsen over time and then resolve, usually within one to three years.

Sounds right since I did notice some pain about 3 months ago and thought I had just pulled a muscle. The pain never did go away and did worsen as time went by to the point I was this week in total excruciating pain! Sleeping at night has become more of a challenge at this point also. I have stacked three pillows high and do sense relief sleeping this way since the pressure is off the shoulder.

The Aleve I took the first two days after the shot really didn’t seem to do much. I am surprised since I usually don’t take any medications at all and thought this would help for sure.

I also received my 24 Steeps Tea Collection this week and the first tea I went for today is the Turmeric ‘N Spice black tea. Have had two cups so far and either it is helping or the steroid finally kicked in – not real sure, but I do notice less ache.

It appears I will be working on this for at least a year or more … that’s rather discouraging. Well, maybe I will make a new friend or two over in the group – at least I know I’m not alone with this frozen shoulder and hopefully I can pick up some helpful tips to ease the pain.

Have you or anyone you know ever had Frozen Shoulder?
